Rockies Venture Club Launches First Impact HyperAccelerator Program
DENVER (PRWEB) July 10, 2018 -- Rockies Venture Club (RVC) hosted their 6th successful HyperAccelerator and the first “Impact HyperAccelerator” on June 18th, 2018. This impact program marks the first time the RVC HyperAccelerator had a vertical focus on companies with a social, environmental or economic impact on communities. Attendees learned from industry experts; participated in an immersive business accelerator program covering topics including lean business planning, go-to-market strategy, venture capital, company valuations and financial planning. Throughout the week, the 7 participating companies were paired with mentors many of which are active angel investors.
Steve Albers, Associate Director of CSU Ventures, presented to the cohort on the importance of federal funding as a source of non-dilutive capital for early stage impact companies, the Federal funding process and best practices, highlighting the Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs as primary capital resources for new impact businesses.
The Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade (OEDIT) partnered with Rockies Venture Club to sponsor 3 of the 7 Impact companies participating that had just received funding from the OEDIT Advanced Industries Accelerator Grant Program. Two of the three OEDIT sponsored companies, MFB Fertility and Synthio Chemicals, are currently participating in Rockies Venture Club’s industry leading due diligence program and will be open for investment shortly. According to Amy Beckley, Founder of MFB Fertility and RVC Impact HyperAccelerator graduate, participating in the program was “truly an awesome experience and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from such wonderful mentors.”
The 8 day Impact HyperAccelerator concluded with a Demo Day June 25th sponsored by BSW Wealth Partners and Comsero at the Soda Pop Garage (2150 Market St., Denver, CO 80205). The half-day event showcased the 7 RVC Impact HyperAccelerator graduates to an audience of nearly 200 viewers from cities along the Front Range including Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs.
