Piccuta Law Group Reaches $720,000 Settlement With City of Clovis to Resolve Police Brutality Lawsuit
A man who filed an excessive force lawsuit against a City of Clovis, California police officer has settled that lawsuit for $720,000. The lawsuit alleged that the man was unnecessarily taken to the ground while handcuffed and suffered a fractured hip.
FRESNO, Calif., Dec. 1, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The City of Clovis has paid $720,000 to settle a civil rights lawsuit alleging excessive force was used by one of its police officers. The lawsuit was filed on March 3, 2020 in Fresno County Superior Court. The case was entitled Bryon Espinosa v. Timothy Dronek and designated case # 20CECG00802. The lawsuit was filed by attorney Charles Tony Piccuta of the Piccuta Law Group, LLP who represented Espinosa.
The lawsuit filed by Bryon Espinosa named police officer Timothy Dronek as a Defendant. The lawsuit alleged that on January 28, 2019 Dronek took Espinosa to the ground while handcuffed causing him to dislocate his right hip and suffer fractures of his femur and pelvis. Espinosa claimed that he required two surgeries in the hours following the encounter to repair his injured hip. Dronek and the City of Clovis denied the allegations.
