In an effort to prevent violence in schools, the nonprofit ZeroNow is holding two forums to teach educators, school security and other interested parties how to prepare for an active shooter situation. Both forums will be held in April, one in Charlotte, NC and one in Columbia, SC.
WASHINGTON, April 7, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ZeroNow has announced the Carolinas School Gun Violence Prevention & Mitigation Forums will be held in Charlotte, NC and Columbia, SC later this month. Best practices for threat assessment and early intervention and the latest in technology resources to protect schools will be the topics of the two forums. School security specialists Capt. Rick Francis of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, School Security Expert and author Paul Timm, and Matthew Nichols of the Concord Police Department will explain how to prepare for preventing active shooter scenarios.
ZeroNow is an education safety stakeholder organization consisting of industry, nonprofit advocacy groups, and schools working collectively to end harm on campuses.
"Our goal for the forums is to provoke new ideas and elevate innovation for safety-related initiatives in schools," said ZeroNow Founder and Board President Ara Bagdasarian. "The panel will focus on threat assessment, mass notification, situational awareness and reunification. Frankly, the information our experts will be sharing will be highly useful not only for educators, law enforcement and campus security professionals, but for anyone with an interest in understanding how to manage an active shooter situation.
The forums will be held April 27 at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and April 28 at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Beginning at 9:00 am and running until 3:00 pm, the forums will include a coffee/networking hour and lunch.
