As Boat Sales Rose Over Pandemic, So Did Vessel Documentation Online Registrations
A rise in boat sales coincides with a rise in people using new online platforms for registering their vessels.
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 19, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Vessel Documentation Online, a site designed to expedite the USCG documentation process, saw a rise in the number of online registrations completed through the site. At the same time, boat sales rose over the course of the pandemic as well.
According to CNBC, "Boat Sales Took Off During the Pandemic and Now Dealers Can't Keep Up With Demand." They found that "sales of boats, marine products, and services across the country leaped to a 13-year high in 2020 to $47 billion, increasing 9% from the prior year."
Additionally, this showed "few signs of slowing in 2021." It went on to claim that even though "boating is usually seen as a hobby reserved for the wealthy," still 61% of boaters have an annual household income of $75,000 or less."
In that time, "sales of new powerboats in the U.S. increased by about 12% (in 2020) to more than 310,000 compared with 2019."
During this same time, Vessel Documentation Online confirmed that they had seen a significant rise in online Coast Guard documentation applications through their site.
"This time has been challenging for so many, but, as ever, boating has proven to be a great asset, something that can help. During this time or any other, there's nothing like getting out on the water.
