HOUSTON, Texas, March 13, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A press conference on Wednesday morning formally announced that The Woodlands Preparatory School is joining forces with the School of Science and Technology, a leading charter school in science and technology in Texas. The School of Science and Technology is a public charter school that has 15 schools in the state of Texas and drives academic and socio-emotional development through a college preparatory, STEM-based learning model.
The press conference announced that the school will become the School of Science and Technology effective this Fall, and that the school is currently enrolling students for the next school year.
"This for me is something that I cannot find words to express my appreciation for," said Mr. Luis Ruiz, founder of The Woodlands Preparatory School, and a resident of The Woodlands, who was joined at the press conference by his wife and children.
Mr. Ruiz, a permanent counsel in the forum for the parliament of international education and a huge advocate for the educational advancement of the community in The Woodlands, said the new school will continue to provide top-quality education.
"We've had offers to join efforts with other national top colleges, but we made the best decision, Mr. Ruiz said. "And now we have a great academic option with the School of Science and Technology," right here in The Woodlands, one of the most important and growing areas in the United States."
The School of Science and technology will continue to have a big impact to serve the educational needs of the community in The Woodlands by providing students with the skills and education required to be competitive in the global economy.
"Educational inequity leads to fewer opportunities to contribute as human beings, and our community needs people to serve and support," Mr. Ruiz said. "What you are witnessing today is the school board addressing the educational needs of the people in The Woodlands."
Besides providing students with an excellent education, the new school will provide other extra-curricular activities that will enrich their future. These activities and experiences will increase knowledge of self, physical growth, and decision-making strategies. This includes the addition of different sports, music, and theater academies through joint alliances with renowned organizations.

The school will be a Pre-K-8 Transformation School, operated under the Science and Technology model (STEM). The STEM model focuses on teaching students to think critically and independently and how to inquire with care and logic.
