TOKYO, Japan, Jan. 9, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- CRAFSTO, a Japanese fashion brand offering products made with sustainable fabrics, announced the release of the new knapsacks made of apple leather and herb-dyed organic cotton for its 2022 Fall/Winter collection. Based on the brand's philosophy of producing goods in Japan that are made in consideration of the environment and people, the brand has created a bag that can be enjoyed effortlessly by all genders. Details on the new knapsacks are available in our online store.
Due to the large capacity and designs for any occasion, the knapsacks are recommended for a high-quality yet effortless style. While using sustainable materials such as organic cotton and apple leather, the design is modern and stylish. The advantage of the partially cotton-switched design is its lightweight finish, which makes them more comfortable to carry compared to a completely leather design. The bag can be carried on your back or held in hand using the handle. The handle can be hidden inside the bag if you want it out of view. With an emphasis on practicality, the bag is designed to accommodate a 13-inch PC, so it can be used not only for private occasions, but also for storing work-related belongings. The genderless design can be enjoyed by anyone, and it is also perfect for sharing amongst family members or with a significant other.
Regarding the materials, the knapsacks use apple leather upcycled from apples headed to the dump. Apple leather is an innovative, environmentally friendly material created by upcycling apples that would otherwise be discarded. It is a USDA certified product*1 with 66% bio-based content (33% of which is apple), and the backing fabric is also made from apples. Only water-based polyurethane, which is less toxic during manufacture, is used as the binding agent. It does not contain the toxic substance dimethylformamide or VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which cause photochemical smog in the atmosphere. It is characterized by its fine-grained texture reminiscent of animal leather and a soft, light touch.
CRAFSTO uses herb-dyed organic cotton grown by agricultural methods that support the natural growth cycle and do not use pesticides or fertilizers. The fibers are long, soft, and pleasant to the touch. It has obtained GOTS*2 organic cotton certification. Furthermore, we use naturally-colored dyes. The khaki is dyed with gardenia, which is widely used as a food coloring, and the black is dyed with yasha-bushi dye, which has high tannin content and good dyeability. The soft texture and deep colors are one part of its charm.
*1 USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) certification is a sustainability certification given to products made from renewable resources such as agricultural products, forest resources, and marine materials. Those certified as USDA Certified Biobased Products are clearly labeled as containing products that encourage the reduction of petroleum dependence, and the use of renewable resources.
*2 GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), a leading international standard-setting organization, guarantees that organic textile products are environmentally friendly at all steps, from raw material harvesting to labeling and manufacturing.
