HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Jan. 30, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ocean Media, the leading Independent media-buying agency, has capped off another banner year in 2022 with a number of new client wins and is set up for growth in 2023 with several key new hires and the promotion of three senior executives.
The agency had a strong new-business year, adding seven accounts to its roster throughout 2022.
Ocean Media was awarded a combination of media planning, buying, and measurement services across media channels including TV, video, audio, and social for the following new clients:
- Aura, a consumer internet-safety platform
- Care.com, an online destination to find caregivers
- Viator, a global tours and attractions business
- Tovala, a meal-prep delivery service
- Policygenius, an online insurance marketplace
- iTrust Capital, a digital-asset IRA platform to directly buy and sell cryptocurrencies and physical gold
- Constant Contact, an email digital marketing suite
The agency expanded its relationships with two existing clients. For the online sportsbook BetMGM, which it won in 2019, Ocean Media will handle media duties in six new North America regions, including Ontario, Canada. The client will also have an expanded national media presence through sports on NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL properties as well as through audio buys on radio and podcasts.
For Etsy, an online storefront for independent sellers, which Ocean Media won in 2018, duties have expanded to include a channel mix on TV, streaming video, audio, and out-of-home. And because Etsy's product lines are broadening, the agency has added new layers of audience targeting.
In addition to the client expansion, the agency brought on two new executives to help bolster its offering. Casey Holbrook joined as Vice President to lead digital strategy across a number of clients and support new business efforts for the agency. He comes with vast experience in marketing and analytics, as he led marketing efforts at Overstock.com for eight years, responsible for media, content, acquisition, and retention. The agency was excited to bring on Casey given his curiosity and brand/client perspective that will help shape media strategies and partnerships. Kevin Telkamp rejoined the agency as Vice President, Media Operations, and is supporting the technology buildout across the agency with a focus on delivering intelligent, data-driven media buying solutions. He spent 2021-2022 as Associate Director, Programmatic Operations at Samba TV where he oversaw the self-service activation of programmatic products at Samba TV, which include ACR-powered data segments and pre-filtered PMP deals
Three others were promoted to further strengthen the executive management team:
- Dave Coleman, previously SVP, Strategy & Development was promoted to President
- Annmarie Turpin, previously SVP, Analytics was promoted to Chief Technology Officer
- Clintton Fleschere, previously SVP, Client Services, was promoted to Chief Client Officer
Ocean Media also put resources into a significant buildout of its technology for media planning, buying, measurement, and automation. The focus in 2022 was around four key areas:
- Data Integration – Incorporating more data to inform evolving video strategies, focusing on lowering media cost while retaining performance, driving incremental reach, and intelligent audience targeting
- Media Mix Modeling – Further building on machine-learning capabilities to improve precision, consistency, speed, and reliability
- Reporting and Data Sharing – Creating both custom solutions and increasing the pathways by which we can automatically and dynamically share data with our clients
- Automation – leveraging technology to improve our internal process which yields a quicker turnaround and more consistent output for our clients
