3,800 Agriculture Jobs Posted on AgricultureCrossing, Amidst Government Shutdown
Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) October 10, 2013 -- As per the article that appeared on October 8, 2013 in the West Virginia Charleston Gazette, Walt Helmick, the West Virginia Agriculture Commissioner, says the partial government shutdown will not affect state agriculture operations or the West Virginia Department of Agriculture's inspections and agency operations. The requirement of the agency is to conduct daily inspections of livestock slaughter and processing facilities, while maintaining surveillance of both egg and dairy products, testing for disease, and other routine inspections and activities. While West Virginia state agricultural operations will not be affected, the shutdown is continuing and jobs are contracting throughout multiple industries. However, just as West Virginia is not affected by the shutdown, agricultural positions are plentiful on AgriculturalCrossing.com, which currently has more than 3,800 listings in the United States.
Of the opportunities that exist in the agriculture sector, there are several thousand positions available on AgricultureCrossing.com. At the time of writing this press release, more than 3.5 million jobs are listed on the parent site, EmploymentCrossing.com. Conducting a job type search on AgricultureCrossing.com showed a significant rise in the number of active jobs for Farm Managers (1,014), Farm Specialist (265), Farm Supervisor (104), Agronomist (156), Farm Management (52), and Agricultural Engineer (75).
The latest estimate of an increase in agriculture employment illustrates a job market that, according to some economists, will be strengthening in the coming months. Moreover, the increase suggests a trend that will continue with the job market favoring an industry that was initially adversely affected by the contraction in the economy.
Harrison Barnes, Chief Executive Officer of Employment Research Institute, the parent company of AgricultureCrossing says, “Employers are urgently seeking farm management and agriculture personnel who can fill their active and unfilled positions that are listed on AgricultureCrossing. This is indicative of the fact that the domestic agriculture job market, as compared to international positions, will be bright in the second half of this year and through 2014."
The Agriculture sector has seen job growth in every major category from mid-year. As per a market research conducted by AgricultureCrossing, most of the new agriculture jobs have been added in states like Iowa, Nebraska, California, Montana, Texas, and Kansas. The job site reports 437 agriculture jobs in Iowa, 251 agriculture jobs in California, and 276 agriculture jobs in Illinois.
