The Meadows Signature Survivors Workshop Offered Weekly July Through December
Wickenburg, AZ (PRWEB) July 19, 2013 -- The Survivors Workshop, pioneered by The Meadows trauma and addiction treatment center, is a five-day concentrated workshop that investigates the origins of adult dysfunctional behaviors by exploring early childhood trauma. The workshop is offered every week of the year (with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s weeks.), from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at The Meadows’ campus.
Based on Senior Fellow, Pia Mellody’s pioneering work in her book, Facing Codependence, Survivors I investigates the origins of self-defeating adult behaviors by exploring early childhood issues that have fueled various addictions, trauma, mood disorders, food-related issues and painful relationships. Participants learn to identify and address family-of-origin issues that took place from birth to 17 years of age. The primary focus of the workshop is processing the emotions that accompany any less-than-nurturing past event, and then working to resolve the consequential grief and anguish.
“Workshops are another alternative to treatment and for some people that is an appropriate level of care,” according to Nancy Bailey, PhD, Clinical Director for The Meadows.
