Robert J. McCunney sheds light on the impact of environmental hazards on human health in this medical thriller
BOSTON, Oct. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Bringing in a fresh perspective in the world of medical mysteries, Dr. Robert J. McCunney, a Harvard trained physician, announces the release of "Cluster" (published by Archway Publishing).
The book follows Dan Murphy, a practicing occupational and environmental medicine physician in Boston, and Anna Carlson, a young graduate student in Public Health at Harvard, as they investigate a rare blood disease that has no acknowledged cause. With Anna's encouragement, they navigate environmental government agencies and Anna conducts a research evaluation as part of her master's degree. Soon they find themselves embroiled in an unexpected romance and a sinister international plot involving Brexit. Dan and Anna eventually determine the cause of the diseases and their paths converge with the vengeful antagonist in an explosive ending.
"Cluster" is a unique medical thriller that will appeal to readers who enjoy a creative, interesting plot with believable characters and a realistic story line and setting. It touches an important medical topic in a way that both entertains and educates. It also introduces contemporary politics regarding Brexit and its impact on Northern Ireland, as well as some of the frustrations and challenges in academic medicine.
When asked what he wants readers to take away from the book, Dr. McCunney said, "I would like readers to gain a perspective on how environmental hazards can adversely affect health and how such causes may be investigated. My hope is that readers will be entertained by a clever medical mystery and in the process gain a glimpse into how to investigate a 'cluster' of disease, while learning a bit about Northern Ireland and Brexit."
