DENVER, April 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Adolfson & Peterson Construction's (AP's) work on the Natrona County High School Historic Renovations project in Casper, WY and the Estes Valley Community Recreation Center in Estes Park, CO have earned two National Excellence in Construction® Eagle Awards from Associated Builders and Contractors. Representatives from the company received the top honor March 27 during ABC's 29th annual Excellence in Construction® Awards gala at ABC Convention 2019 in Long Beach, California.
Natrona County High School Historic Renovations project's win came in the General Contractor Historical Restoration/Renovation - $25 to $100 million category. It was phased to work around an occupied high school campus. The 115,000-sf historic portion of the building was renovated to include an updated theater, classrooms and administrative spaces. Demolition of later additions to the original building, allowed for the 145,000-sf addition to include a new competition gymnasium, kitchen, commons and courtyard, library, vocational classrooms and labs.
The Estes Valley Community Recreation Center project took home the award in the General Contractor Institutional - $10 to $25 million category. The project began with renovating the existing aquatic center and reopening it in December 2017 for use. The 52,756-sf multigenerational community space was built as a large addition and includes senior services, library resources, family and youth amenities, meeting rooms and gathering spaces.
"We are proud to honor both of these projects with a National Excellence in Construction® Eagle Award," said 2019 ABC National Chair Tony Rader, telecom vice president of National Roofing Partners, Coppell, Texas. "These projects show not only the exceptional talent in our industry, but the overall commitment to building safely, on time and on budget. AP's breadth of skills and craftmanship greatly benefits the merit shop construction industry."
The Excellence in Construction awards program is the industry's leading competition that honors both general and specialty contractors for innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects. The award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer. The winning projects, selected from entries submitted from across the nation, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost.
A panel of industry experts served as the competition's judges. This year's panel included representatives from the Building Owners and Managers Association International, the Smithsonian Facilities Construction Division, the Construction Management Association of America, Engineering News-Record, Design-Build Institute of America and various construction-related firms nationwide.
