The end of the pandemic has brought with it the end of Medicaid-covered PAP supplies. Aeroflow Sleep addresses the changes sleep apnea patients may expect.
ASHEVILLE, N.C., Aug. 4, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- With the end of COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) insurance coverage, more than 15 million Americans are left without access to the sleep apnea therapy they need. Aeroflow Sleep, the nation's fastest-growing PAP supplier, takes an interest in how these changes impact CPAP users who are no longer covered through Medicaid.
Many sleep apnea patients received financial support through Medicaid during the pandemic but—as of July 31st—no longer qualify for the same coverage. The power to approve or deny PAP supplies being covered has returned to the individual state governments, and several have opted to thin the herd. For example, NPR reported, Texas dropped more than 500,000 Medicaid enrollees (82% of its recipients) overnight.
Mindi Walker, leader of Aeroflow's new Government Relations program, advocates, "Sleep apnea coverage in Medicaid isn't just about treating a condition; it is about promoting healthier lives and preventing complications like heart disease, diabetes, and other potentially lethal health issues. Removing this coverage could mean sacrificing the well-being of vulnerable Americans and more significant health costs in the future."
Aeroflow strongly encourages anyone with Medicaid to speak with your insurance provider to ensure you continue to have access to the medical care, services, and resources you deserve. If your coverage has changed, you can call your dedicated Aeroflow Sleep Specialist at 866-616-1687 to update your account.
