As part of the Florida Prepaid College Board's celebration of its 30th anniversary, the Board has made enrollment free through Saturday, March 2, for families who purchase plans in the first 30 days, a savings of $50.
Open Enrollment began Friday, February 1, 2019, and ends April 30, 2019.
"We are thrilled to see so many families already beginning their college savings journey with us, as we celebrate our milestone year," said Board Chairman John Rood. "More than one million families have been saving with us for the past three decades, giving all of them the peace of mind of knowing that their monthly payment will never go up, and we will have their child's tuition covered when it is time for them to attend college."
A Prepaid Plan allows families to start saving early so their child's college tuition is ready and waiting for them. This year, families can purchase a 4-Year Florida University Plan for a newborn for as low as $187 a month, a 2-Year College Plan for $55 a month or a 4-Year Florida College Plan for less than $120 a month.
The Board also offers a 1-Year Florida University Plan, which starts as low as $47 per month and covers 30 university credit hours. Multiple family members can purchase a 1-Year Florida University Plan for the same child, sharing in the cost of going to college. University dormitory plans are also available.
Families this year are also taking advantage of a new online pricing calculator that makes it simple to determine what the various plans would cost based on a child's age.
If a child attends an out-of-state or private college, a Prepaid Plan will pay the same amount as it would pay at a public college or university in Florida. Every Prepaid Plan is guaranteed by the State of Florida, and a child has up to 10 years after high school graduation to use the plan.
Through March 2, families can enroll in a plan for free, a $50 savings, by using the promo code 30YEARS.
