American Mothers, Inc. to Celebrate Motherhood Across the World at National Conference
Colorado Springs, Colorado (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- Just in time for the 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day, American Mothers, Inc.®, a national non-profit dedicated to honoring and supporting mothers around the world, is proud to host the 79th Annual National Conference. The event will take place at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs April 24-27.
The national conference offers attendees, the vast majority of whom are mothers from across the world, three days of education, inspiration and networking. It culminates on the night of the 26th with the American Mothers Gala, during which the 2014 National Mother of the Year® and 2014 National Young Mother of the Year will be announced.
“We look forward to this event every year because we see the impact it has on the women who attend,” says Joan Braitsch, American Mothers president. “Over the course of three days they’ll get thoughtful and inspiring content from our speakers, but the best part is being connected with hundreds of women who all share the common bond of motherhood. It truly changes lives for the better.”
The keynote will be delivered by Lieutenant General Michelle D. Johnson on April 25 at noon during the Hero Mom Luncheon. General Johnson is the first female Superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy, a decorated pilot with tours in multiple military operations, and the mother of twin boys.
The event will also feature opportunities for attendees to experience the Colorado Springs region, including a tour of the Air Force Academy, a visit to the American Mothers Chapel in the Garden of the Gods, a fireside chat in the mountains with a Taste of Colorado buffet provided by a local chef, some pampering time, and more.
On the morning of the 25th there will be a fun run/walk, called the Mom’s Mile. Proceeds from the race will go to support two local shelters for battered women and children. American Mothers’ primary focus in 2014 is to build awareness of domestic violence and support local shelters across the nation.
The American Mothers National Conference has been held annually since 1935, when Sarah Delano Roosevelt presented Lucy Keen Johnson from Georgia as the first American Mother of the Year.
