BROOKFIELD, Wis., June 10, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- American Home Inspectors Training (AHIT) announced a new, online home inspection course and Practicum (field training), with optional live classroom sessions, now available in Texas. The new Professional Real Estate Inspector program from AHIT is approved by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) and open for registration.
Students may take the class completely online or add live, classroom training to sharpen their skills before beginning the Practicum. The online course was updated while additional videos and images enhance learner engagement. For the student, this means a more engaging and interactive course experience that drives home real-world applications.
According to AHIT Instructor and course subject-matter expert Jim Schumacher, one of the biggest changes to the overall course is the reduction in mandatory hours. The Texas course dropped from 330 hours to 194, saving students significant amounts of time, while retaining the effectiveness of the course.
The online course option includes a Practicum of six real-world field inspections with an experienced inspector. Schumacher says these training sessions are the most important part of new inspector education.
"It would be nearly impossible for a student who only does online practice inspections to learn how to accurately complete a real inspection report," Schumacher says. "An online mock inspection could never duplicate the real-life inspection scenarios the professional real estate inspector will run into."
Included in the 40 hours of Texas Practicum training (Approval #39929) is AHIT's exclusive "Field Training Guide", a an inspector-developed resource to assist students in completing their first reports.. It acts as a quick reference to everything that must be included in a real estate inspection report, including a Standards of Practice Module (Approval #39928) and "never-miss" items. Using this guide, and expert instruction, students get in-depth training and real-world experience in report writing.
"Reports and data analysis are usually the hardest things for new inspectors because books and online courses don't give them any real-world context," says Schumacher.
The AHIT Texas program is the only course that offers a "hybrid" classroom/online learning experience. No other real estate inspection school in Texas offers the same combination of self-paced online education, in-person inspections, and hands-on classroom training.
