NEW YORK, April 8, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Noodle Partners, the nation's fastest-growing online program manager (OPM), announced today that it will be launching its first-ever online doctorate program, The EdD in Education Policy and Leadership, with American University School of Education. Set to launch this Fall, the EdD will be the only practice-oriented doctoral program on campus, aligning with both the School of Education's mission and vision as well as the University's strategic goal of increasing lifelong learning.
Students in the EdD program will learn the policy, leadership, and research skills necessary to serve in senior positions in school district central offices, independent schools, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, advocacy organizations, and more. Completion of the program requires students to write a dissertation.
"In order to make meaningful improvement in the quality of education, education leaders need to be prepared to be systemic change agents, ready to create impact," School of Education Dean Cheryl Holcomb-McCoy said. "Our EdD program is designed for educators, who are ready to take their careers to the next level."
The partnership between American University and Noodle Partners began in February 2017 with two masters programs. Since 2017, the School of Education has more than doubled enrollment and will be graduating their first cohort this coming spring.
"American has consistently been a wonderful partner, and we couldn't be more excited to help expand their online presence," Noodle Partners CEO John Katzman said. "Offering an EdD degree focused on Education Policy and Leadership gives education leaders the opportunity to be not only dynamic, but also trained to focus on impact, systems, and policy-making."
