Announcing The Remote Learner Social Impact Initiative
An in-kind contribution program wholly dedicated to advancing diversity & inclusion and anti-racism initiatives across North America.
DENVER, Oct. 29, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Remote Learner Social Impact Initiative will leverage Remote Learner ("RL") resources and expertise to ensure that Communities of Color have greater access to equitable and meaningful learning experiences. Specifically, the initiative will provide strategic infusions of learning technologies and contributions of RL's time and expertise to deepen the impact of selected RL Social Impact Partners and the work they are doing to address systemic racism and inequities across the field of education.
In response to the international Black Lives Matter movement that has sparked conversations, personal reflections, and protests across all aspects of society, RL made a commitment to listen, to learn, and to take action in an effort to confront systemic racism and ensure a more just future for people of color. The Remote Learner Social Impact Initiative represents a critical action to honor that commitment.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
RL supports over 300 clients that provide learning programs in academic settings, corporate environments, and government & non-profit agencies. Additionally, RL employs a distributed team of 38 people who live and work throughout North America, representing a wide array of communities. Over the next two months, the RL team will finalize a cohort of RL Social Impact Partners to be the focus of the initiative in 2021. These partners will be selected through an internal evaluation process that considers opportunities within RL's existing client portfolio and other community-based initiatives that are directly advocated for by members of the RL team.
Selected partners will work directly with RL team members to design, implement, and test solutions over a 6-12 month period that result in sustainable, scalable, online learning environments that support each partner's specific goals and community outcomes. Additionally, RL and each partner will develop a shared project impact plan to intentionally map out strategies that will allow for the learning experience to be applied to the goal of ensuring equitable and meaningful learning experiences for Communities of Color.
"Not only are we in a unique position to act, but we have a responsibility to do so," says Remote Learner CEO, Ron Olsen. "The real impact will come from our ability to change the way we look at the work we do and to become more intentional about how the solutions we build can directly address the issues central to the Black Live Matter Movement. This is not just about RL giving back, but changing the way we do business and influencing our customers and partners to make similar commitments for greater change and sustained impact."
To date, RL has established two projects under the Remote Learner Social Impact Initiative. These projects include the launch of online programming for a non-profit focused on financial literacy and a proof-of-concept project for a Black-owned startup looking to bring their health and wellness training program into an online learning environment. Remote Learner will provide updates on these, and newly established partnerships, as they develop further.
