According to a recent study, 83% of Apartment Therapy users are constantly looking for design inspiration and the team at Apartment Therapy wanted to highlight people shaping the design world heading into 2020. This curated list ranges from designers to YouTubers, architects to entrepreneurs and more.
The list of 20 design innovators were nominated by various industry veterans such as Jonathan Adler and Emily Henderson, along with the Apartment Therapy team who partnered with Samsung, a brand known for creating smart designs that will continue to drive innovation and help bring the future of design to the forefront. "Superior design is at the core of all innovation at Samsung, so we're beyond thrilled to partner with Apartment Therapy and its inaugural class of design change-makers," said Elina Vives, Vice President of Marketing, Home Appliance at Samsung Electronics America. "We're always looking for unique ways to connect the next generation of emerging designers with Samsung's design capabilities and product functionality, and with this partnership, these up-and-coming change-makers can reach people who are looking for something fresh and exciting."
New changemakers have been released daily on the Apartment Therapy website, featuring in-depth profiles, bringing recognition to the innovator and why they received this honor. Key winners included Luke Edward Hall, an artist and designer nominated by Jonathan Adler who stated he is "a once in a generation talent, who has style, skill, and savoir faire." Apartment Therapy founder, Maxwell Ryan nominated YouTuber, Alexandra Gater, who proves that there isn't a one size fits all approach to design: "Her YouTube channel gives consumers a no nonsense, direct and easygoing approach to transforming rooms via smart snappy video that sets her apart. She is Apartment Therapy for a new generation."
The final honoree, Medina Grillo, who is a design blogger and author, rounds out the 20-person list, allowing consumers to be a part of where they see the future of design. "We loved working with other members of the design community to put the class together, but what's even more exciting is that our Apartment Therapy readers, important tastemakers in their own right, submitted the 20th and final honoree" said Editor in Chief, Laura Schocker.
