“Logging On” to Learn: Online School Students Head Back to School
Gilbert, AZ (PRWEB) August 03, 2015 -- Nearly 2,000 students enrolled at Arizona Connections Academy will begin the 2015-2016 school year today, Aug. 3—receiving a high-quality public education online without leaving home. Arizona Connections Academy, a statewide, online public school that serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade, offers students the ability to attend school from anywhere there is an Internet connection by utilizing an award-winning curriculum, state-certified teachers and live, online lessons that create an interactive, real-time classroom.
Successfully serving students for more than a decade, Arizona Connections Academy has seen its student population grow statewide. While about half of the school’s students live in Maricopa County, other areas of the state have seen a marked increase in enrollment over the past year. Pinal County experienced a 30 percent increase in enrollment from 2014 to 2015, and Pima County saw a 24 percent jump in enrollment over the same time period.
“We are excited to start another school year and look forward to all that this year has to offer, from special projects to educational field trips to social festivals and events,” Kerri Wright, Arizona Connections Academy principal, said. “Arizona continues to be a trailblazer when it comes to online education and school choice, and this supportive environment fosters our school’s ongoing growth and that of our students.”
Arizona is a national leader in online education with more than 48,000 students enrolled in virtual programs in the 2013-14 school year, according to the annual Keeping Pace with K-12 Digital Learning report. That number represents nearly 4.5 percent of the state’s K-12 population.
Students attend Arizona Connections Academy for a variety of reasons. Some students seek flexibility in their school day in order to pursue other passions such as competitive athletics or performing arts. Others seek a more personalized learning environment, desire more family time, or are searching for an education model that will allow them to either catch up or get ahead of their grade level.
Students and parents alike consistently give Arizona Connections Academy high marks for the school’s variety of learning programs, helpful instructors, technology, flexibility and curriculum. In fact, 91 percent of parents would recommend the school to other families and 95 percent of parents say their children are satisfied with the program, according to Arizona Connections Academy’s 2015 Parent Satisfaction Survey.
Enrollment for the 2015-16 school year is still open, and families are encouraged to attend a local information session to learn more about the program. For more information, visit http://www.ArizonaConnectionsAcademy.com or call 800-382-6010.
