Asana Recovery Among the First, and Only Addiction Treatment Program in the West Coast, to be Awarded ASAM Level of Care Certification
California addiction treatment program, Asana Recovery, is among a select group of seven addiction treatment programs, and the only facility in the west coast, to achieve The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Level of Care certification. The ASAM certification helps patients and payers to differentiate and identify programs that deliver evidence-based care for the disease of addiction.
COSTA MESA, Calif., June 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Asana Recovery is among the first to be awarded The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Level of Care certification. It is also the only addiction treatment program in the west coast to be included in the select group of facilities to achieve the distinction.
The ASAM Level of Care certification was created in partnership with CARF International (CARF) to establish a national certification for addiction treatment programs that demonstrate the ability to provide and deliver services consistent with established guidelines for levels of care. The certification program provides an independent, comprehensive assessment of treatment programs and their commitment and compliance to the particular guidelines as defined in the ASAM certification criteria.
Among seven other treatment facilities, Asana Recovery was awarded an ASAM Level of CARE 3.5. The ASAM Criteria describes treatment as a continuum defined by four broad levels of service and an interventional level. The decimal numbers further illustrate the range of intensity of services. A 3.5 Level of CARE is defined as a program with clinically managed, high-intensity, residential services.
"To say that we are thrilled to be part of a distinct group of treatment centers is an understatement," says Mark Shandrow, CEO of Asana Recovery. "To have Asana Recovery be part of a significant milestone and landmark achievement in standardizing addiction treatment care is not only meaningful to us as an organization, but also a testament of the hard work and commitment of each person who has cared for every patient that comes through our doors." Shandrow adds, "the efforts by ASAM and CARF to standardize the delivery of addiction medicine is overwhelmingly critical to the future of the addiction treatment industry. A national standard ensures that addiction programs are validated for their level of care, quality, and efficacy of treatment."
As part of the Phase One of the ASAM Level of Care certification pilot, Asana Recovery completed a rigorous program review, provider evaluation, and site visit from CARF. To achieve the certification, treatment facilities were required to demonstrate to CARF the capacity to deliver services at the level of care as defined under The ASAM Criteria, by meeting ratable elements marked by the scoring methodology.
Since opening in 2017, Southern California based Asana Recovery, has offered unique and innovative ways to treat the disease of addiction. Harnessing the efficacy of traditional, evidenced-based methods, while incorporating alternative techniques, Asana Recovery offers services for the full spectrum and phases of addiction recovery. The ASAM Level of Care certification award for Asana Recovery will be valid for up to three years, and Asana Recovery is the only facility in the west coast that has achieved the certification.

About The ASAM Criteria®
The ASAM Criteria is the nation's most widely used and comprehensive set of guidelines for placement, continued stay, and transfer/discharge of patients with addiction and co-occurring conditions. Utilized by clinicians and payers across all care settings, the use of The ASAM Criteria is required in more than 30 states. Addiction treatment programs use the criteria to conduct a multi-dimensional patient assessment over five broad levels of treatment that are based on the degree of direct medical management provided, the structure, safety and security provided, and the intensity of treatment services provided. The criteria focus on six dimensions of patient care to create a holistic, biopsychosocial assessment of an individual. This assessment is used for service planning and treatment across all services and levels of care.
