SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich., June 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Macomb County athletes can now make next season their best season. Athletic Republic, the leading sports performance training franchise, is opening in Shelby Township, Michigan. Athletes of all ages looking to gain an edge will now have access to science-based training methods proven to increase speed, power, agility, and stamina. The new Athletic Republic is scheduled to open to the public June 17, with free introductory workouts available in the afternoons. The VIP Grand Opening celebration will be on Thursday, June 13, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Athletic Republic has nearly three decades of experience training athletes of all ages and abilities, from youth and high school players to professional athletes. Scholastic athletes can prepare for their next competitive season with Athletic Republic's signature Acceleration Training, which can be tailored to meet the needs of specific sports, including soccer, volleyball, baseball, lacrosse, track, softball, and many more. Active adults can take advantage of the AR-FIT program to stay in shape, get stronger, and move better. All programs are run by certified trainers who provide individualized training in a small-group setting.
Athletic Republic Shelby is located at 14901 23 Mile Road, at 23 Mile Road & Hayes. It's attached to the Premiere Sports Center, which provides space for soccer, baseball, volleyball, and golf players. In advance of the opening of the training facility, Athletic Republic has partnered with the Nationals Soccer Club to offer ground-based training in the Premiere Sports Center, as well as sponsoring club teams. The center is also associated with OMPT Specialists, a well-known physical therapy practice in southeast Michigan.
Athletic Republic Shelby is owned and operated by local entrepreneur and physical therapist Michael Fahmy, who also owns all seven OMPT clinic locations. He is a certified Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist with 26 years of experience in spine and sports injury rehabilitation. "Our training facility is the first of its kind, one that focuses on the correct training for teen athletes by a team of experienced trainers and in coordination with physical therapists. The main goal will be to improve those kids' sports performance and reduce the risk of sports injuries" says Fahmy.
Fittingly, the other focus of the new Athletic Republic, aside from sports performance training, will be the Return2Play program that is designed for athletes who are returning from injuries such as ACL surgery and have completed their rehabilitation but need further training before a full return to competition. Other staff members include Joe Sheffied, who holds a master's degree in Exercise Science and is a four-time winner of the Michigan Strongest Man competition. He is joined by Chelsea Harley, a certified athletic trainer with extensive knowledge of sports injuries and kinesio taping.
"Athletic Republic is not just another gym. Our proprietary equipment and proven science-based training methods will prepare athletes to take their skills to the next level," said Fahmy. "We focus every workout on the individual athlete, even in a group setting. I am excited to help boost the confidence and performance of athletes in Macomb County and the surrounding communities."
Athletic Republic Shelby Township is a 4,000 sq. ft. facility that can accommodate up to 40 athletes per session divided into small groups with a 5:1 athlete to trainer ratio. It's open Monday-Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday for team training with programs for adults and scholastic athletes year-round. Local coaches can also take advantage of team training programs during the off-season, pre-season, and in-season. For more information, visit http://www.shelby.athleticrepublic.com.
