Atlanta Hosting 30th Annual Internationally-Acclaimed Breast Surgery Symposium January 31st-February 2nd, 2014 from Northside Hospital
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- Northside Hospital and The Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (SESPRS) are hosting the 30th Annual Breast Surgery Symposium. This educational symposium is internationally recognized and attended by board certified plastic surgeons from over 15 countries, including featured guests invited through The Foreign Scholar Program from Argentina. Since Atlanta Plastic Surgery’s Dr. Carl Hartrampf, the original Founder of the meeting, held the first meeting almost 30 years ago, Atlanta has remained an identifier for the forefront of breast surgery innovations. James D. Namnoum, M.D. is one of the co-chairs of the meeting who will be leading the symposium featuring global advances in plastic surgery of the breast.
The Symposium will feature The Honorary Hartrampf Guest Lecture, named after Atlanta breast reconstruction pioneer and symposium founder Dr. Carl Hartrampf who is credited for developing the TRAM Flap, one of the most innovative breast reconstruction techniques used globally by plastic surgeons today. Headed by L. Franklyn Elliott, M.D., the lecture celebrates Dr. Hartrampf’s legacy and reflects on the advancements made thus far in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery. Dr. Franklyn Elliott explains, "There is no question that the introduction and acceptance of the TRAM flap by doctors, surgeons and patients hugely contributed to the ultimate acceptance of breast reconstruction in general and immediate breast reconstruction specifically. This lecture will celebrate the TRAM flap, its development, significance for women and the possible future applications of this valuable technique."
The Atlanta Breast Surgery Symposium is the only international meeting featuring live demonstrations of the latest surgical techniques performed at Northside Hospital by world-wide leaders. The 2014 live surgery will feature simultaneous breast implant removal with fat grafting, a breast augmentation and mastopexy with the newest FDA approved form stable implants, and a bilateral TRAM flap procedure. The symposium will feature multiple series of surgeon-led discussion panels covering topics from augmentation with fat grafting and combination breast surgery to breast reconstruction and oncoplastic surgery.
"For the past 30 years, the annual breast symposium has remained a prime occasion to collaborate with the best and brightest about the most advanced techniques such as direct to implant reconstruction, TRAM flaps, and resolving challenges facing both cosmetic and reconstructive approaches," shares Program Co-Chairman Dr. Jim Namnoum about the program’s emphasis on addressing new developments in breast surgery, “Each panel demonstrates the latest surgical techniques and plastic surgery technology used by the most outstanding leaders in breast procedures.”
