DULUTH, Ga., Aug. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Banyan Hills Technologies has been named one of Auburn University's Top Tigers for 2019.
Announced recently at the university's annual Entrepreneurship Summit, the Top Tigers award recognizes the fastest-growing companies founded, owned, or led by Auburn University alumni.
Nominated companies are evaluated for their ability to demonstrate exemplary revenue growth (as determined by accounting firm Warren Averett), while at the same time operating in a manner consistent with the Auburn Creed.
The Auburn Creed speaks, in part, to the importance of hard work, education, honesty, truthfulness, and earning respect and confidence.
This is Banyan Hill's first time achieving the Top Tiger award, qualifying in the "Medium Company" rankings, which encompass companies with $5 to $35 million in revenue. Auburn also recognizes small (revenue from $500,000 to $5 million) and large businesses (revenue in excess of $35 million) as well.
The Auburn alumni behind Banyan Hills' award is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Webb Morris, who graduated from the Auburn University Samuel Ginn College of Engineering in the class of 2000.
"It's an honor to be recognized by Auburn University as an entrepreneur who has developed a business that's among the top tier of Auburn alumni businesses," said Morris. "But this award is the result of the work of the entire Banyan team. The recognition really belongs with the organization for the incredible dedication that everyone has had, developing this business over the last six years."
The Top Tigers awards are just one component in Auburn's annual Entrepreneurship Summit. Auburn also uses the event to announce the annual Hall of Fame winners. Past hall of famers include business icons like Accenture's Joe Forehand (class of 1971) and Stryker Corporation's John Brown (class of 1957).
And the summit also makes time for the Tiger Cage – a business idea competition for Auburn students that plays out like an episode of the TV show "Shark Tank," in which finalists have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to judges who are industry professionals. Said Morris, "I think that what Auburn is doing to encourage the development of the entrepreneurial spirit is really fantastic. It's really grown over these past 20 years and now there's such a recognition by Auburn about how important that is."
Joe McAdory, communications editor for Auburn's Harbert College, sums up the Top Tiger award this way: "The program celebrates the entrepreneurial success of alumni from Auburn's 12 schools. It's an honor to be recognized from your university in this way. Imagine, you get a diploma, but then ten or twenty years later, you get acknowledged as being one of the best in the business by the very place that educated you. That's very exciting."
