When I went to fold the blade shut, it sprang closed on my right thumb, cutting it open to the bone. I was so afraid of Nelson's wrath I lied and said I slammed my thumb shutting the dresser drawer. I believe this was the very first lie I told. I didn't know it as a lie. I knew it as to save my rear from a severe spanking. To this day, over fifty years later, I still have the scar on my thumb."
