Jersey Shore’s Hometown Newspaper for over a Century Launches New Smartphone App Guide to the Iconic Destination
Neptune, NJ (PRWEB) May 31, 2014 -- The Asbury Park Press, which has been the Jersey Shore’s hometown newspaper for more than 135 years, is upgrading its coverage of the Shore this year to include a newly launched "Go Jersey Shore" app for smartphone and tablet users. The apps, developed in partnership with Bar-Z, NJ Press Media, Gannett and APP.com, are now available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play app store.
“The ‘Go Jersey Shore’ app lets Shore visitors and residents keep at their fingertips the Asbury Park Press’s rich knowledge about the beaches, restaurants, music scene, fun spots and more,” said Judy M. Feeney, Director of Digital Initiatives for NJ Press Media. “We’re thrilled that the Bar-Z format makes it easy for people to find places and tips with a few clicks on their phones.”
Shari Puterman, Assistant Regional Features Editor, adds, “We are extremely excited to provide our readers with an easy-to-use tool that provides top-to-bottom navigation throughout the Jersey Shore. This amazing new app brings summer fun right to your fingertips.”
While the Asbury Park Press’ annual print Summer Guide hit newsstands last Friday, the apps will be the definitive go-to guide for where to eat, drink, play, stay and more all year-round. The apps are using software provided by Bar-Z that allows continuous updates with new content and updated information.
“I grew up in Monmouth County and the Jersey Shore is always the place to be. Bar-Z is excited to develop an app with the Asbury Park Press that helps visitors get the most out of their trips to this iconic destination,” said Wm. Lee Little, CEO, Bar-Z.
The app includes an intuitive interface offering quick and easy access to comprehensive Shore information, from boardwalks to beaches and beyond. A "near me" function points you toward attractions close by. The interactive "postcard" feature is a unique way to frame favorite Shore shots and share them on social-media sites.
