YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio, April 6, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Boak & Sons, Inc. is a residential and commercial exterior contracting company based in Youngstown, Ohio and serving customers from Cleveland, Ohio to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company specializes in the installation, repair and new construction of roofing, insulation, siding, gutters and sheet metal materials. Boak & Sons works with many roofing systems manufacturers to assure we are installing the highest quality roofs for our customers. In March, the company announced it would no longer be installing or an authorized installer of Duro-Last Roofing.
Sam Boak, president and founder of Boak & Sons, Inc., spoke to Duro-Last about his concerns after being an authorized applicator for Duro-Last Roofing materials for decades. Boak & Sons had one of the highest quality ratings for installers that Duro-Last has ever had, but complications with the products years later was costing the company time and money. Both parties have decided to move on from their partnership and end Boak & Sons authorized applicator status.
"Installations were starting to show decline in quality years after projects were done, which is not typical or most high-quality roofing materials," said Sam Boak. "Due to these issues, we started to use less and less materials supplied by Duro-Last, which ultimately led to concern that their expectations from us were not being met as applicators of their products. We had a discussion about pour lack of installed projects along with our product concerns and they decided it was best to end our relationship."
Boak & Sons has samples of roofs that are no more than 15 years old that are failing, which is less than half as long as most of their roofing materials last. The roofing experts at Boak & Sons were able to recognize the sheet material becoming brittle, cracking and causing concern from facility managers. Quality is a top priority for Boak & Sons, so failing materials are unacceptable.
"We were fortunate to gain so much experience by working with Duro-Last Roofing," said Chris White, vice president, operations of Boak & Sons, Inc. "In our conversation with Duro-Last, they told us our workmanship was of the top in quality that they've seen. Our experience with them has led us to believe that this was a good separation for both companies. We sincerely appreciate the years of working with Duro-Last."
Duro-Last is still required to honor all issued warranties, and Boak & Sons will continue working with customers who have Duro-Last roofs and may be experiencing any issues to file their warranty claims. Boak & Sons wants customers to understand that they will not go without warranty coverage and they will work with customers to make sure all claims are honored.
