The new Brane X is the first portable speaker in its class to include a subwoofer, breaking Hoffman's Iron Law and achieving ten times the deep bass
AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 3, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Brane Audio, a sound technology company, will debut its groundbreaking mobile smart speaker this week at CES. The Brane X is the first speaker in its class to include a subwoofer, producing 10X the deep bass of comparable portable speakers. Brane Audio is offering private demos of its new speaker during CES, and will formally launch the Brane X to consumers in March 2023 at South By Southwest (SXSW).
While there has been massive innovation in audio over the past century – from solid state amplifiers, high energy batteries, digital signal processors, and voice control – there has been virtually no innovation on the basic audio driver.
The Brane X introduces the most significant advancement in driver technology in a century with the invention of the Repel-Attract Driver (R.A.D.). Weighing in at 7.7 pounds, it is the first portable speaker in its class to include an 8-inch subwoofer.
This is possible because the R.A.D. breaks Hoffman's Iron Law, the speaker design law that has governed speaker engineering for decades. Hoffman's Iron Law states that in order to produce deep bass, a speaker must be either large or draw a tremendous amount of electrical power. The Brane X achieves a tenfold increase in deep bass without increasing size or power consumption, burning only 1/10th of the power compared to conventional small speakers in the same subwoofer range.
"The Brane X offers an entirely new experience of sound. We're doing side-by-side demonstrations at CES because we want CES attendees to hear what they've been missing," said Joe Pinkerton, CEO of Brane Audio. "With a wide soundstage and thunderous subwoofer notes, the Brane X can transform a room."
This new driver utilizes a combination of moving and stationary magnets to create a force that is equal and opposite to the force caused by large air pressure changes within a speaker enclosure, producing new levels of deep bass that no other small, portable speaker can achieve.
"It has taken a long time and hundreds of prototypes to get to where we are, but we are incredibly proud to deliver the biggest breakthrough in audio driver technology in the last century," said Pinkerton. "The Brane X represents a significant evolution for speaker technology, and one that can scale up to venue and festival-size systems or even down to earbuds. We're excited to be able to produce music the way it was truly meant to sound when artists recorded it in the studio."
On top of having the most powerful deep bass of any speaker in its category, Brane X has all the features expected from today's smart speakers. The Brane X is fully waterproof, voice-enabled, and offers a smart app that allows users to control multiple speakers, create custom groups, and adjust the EQ settings.
Registration for pre-order of the Brane X is available now at http://www.braneaudio.com, and the speaker retails for $599. Brane Audio will provide private demos of the Brane X in CES exhibitor suite Venetian 34-309 at the Venetian. To schedule a demo, please contact [email protected].
About Brane Audio
Brane Audio is a sound technology company. We're unlocking a radically new experience of sound.
Our flagship product, the Brane X smart speaker, is the first portable speaker in its class with a built-in subwoofer. Our technological breakthrough, the Repel-Attract Driver (R.A.D.), delivers a 10X increase in deep bass without any sacrifice in size or power consumption.
R.A.D. represents the first significant innovation in audio driver technology in a century. Our driver breaks Hoffman's Iron Law by using permanent magnet forces to cancel internal air pressure forces. This proprietary force cancellation design allows Brane speakers to be compact, efficient, and capable of producing deeper bass than any comparable speaker on the market.
Brane was founded in 2015 and is proudly based in the live music capital of Austin, Texas. Our team of engineers and scientists work tirelessly to push the boundaries of sound with an unrelenting commitment to invention and scientific curiosity.
