VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Jan. 25, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- British Swim School, the nation's leading "learn to swim" franchise company, is thrilled to open in two new pools in the Virginia Beach, Virginia region, which happens to also be home to British Swim School's corporate headquarters. The Virginia Beach school joins our other British Swim School locations helping to save the lives of infants, children and adults across the United States and Canada.
"Virginia Beach is a community surrounded by water — including the ocean, bay, canals, and both commercial and private swimming pools. It was clear to me that a British Swim School could fill a critical need in the area," said Chuck Cassidy, longtime Virginia Beach resident, and owner of British Swim School of Greater Virginia Beach.
The mission of British Swim School — ensuring that every swimmer has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer — resonated with Cassidy, especially considering his 28 years of work in the Methodist Church and currently with Virginia Beach Methodist Church, where he serves as the Director of Hospitality and Missions.
British Swim School's mantra of "Survival of the Littlest" also appealed to Cassidy as a dad. The father of two identifies with parents who are looking to make their own children water safe and to grow them into confident swimmers. He is especially excited to begin teaching water survival skills to infants and children, starting with those as young as 3 months old.
"We are thrilled to welcome Chuck to the British Swim School family, especially in the 'backyard' of our headquarters here in Virginia Beach," said Brian Garrison, British Swim School President. "We knew this area could benefit from a swim school of this caliber, and expect that Chuck's welcoming personality and focus on survival swimming will resonate well with area parents who will entrust his team with teaching their children."
British Swim School, a premier swim school franchise, launched in England in 1981. It was then brought to America and Canada and eventually rolled out to more than 200 locations.
Research shows that participation in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88 percent among children who are most at risk for accidental death by drowning.
British Swim School of Virginia Beach will teach water safety and survival first — and swimming skill development second. Students are placed in classes based on skill level.
Classes are underway in two locations: the DoubleTree by the Virginia Beach Convention Center and the DoubleTree on North Military Highway, down the street from IKEA.
