WASHINGTON, April 18, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ --During the pandemic, new audiences were introduced to the award-winning '90s sitcom, "Family Matters". In fact, it was reported that viewership of the beloved show soared nearly 400%. As a result of this revival, three of the key cast members and three forward-thinking producers decided to launch their own digital platform. DreamFlix TV is a collaboration between "Family Matters" cast members JoMarie Payton, Kellie Shanygne Williams and Darius McCary, along with entertainment industry veterans, Ervin Williams, ShahRon Vaulx and producer Peggy Williams. "We were intrigued by the idea of owning our own platform," said Kellie Williams. "With the huge increase in new audience for 'Family Matters' and the fact that we truly are a family still, it seemed that this was the right time to launch."
"I loved the idea of offering a home for independent filmmakers," commented Darius McCary. "It's important to continue to push newer artists and this allows us to create our own content while encouraging others."
"Working alongside these two, coupled with the expertise of Ervin and Peggy, we have the opportunity to make an impact," stated JoMarie Payton.
"We are extremely pleased to be offering a platform for newer artists who seem to get lost in today's world of mega-streamers," said Peggy Williams. "We saw a need for a platform that affords its talent backing by established actors. It's a unique model and we're confident of its success."
The global streaming market was estimated to be worth $42.6 billion in 2019 and its growth is expected to be more than 20 percent per year. Indie filmmakers and content creators are limited in the doors that are open to them. DreamFlix TV is looking for content from independents. Submissions should be sent to [email protected].
