Catalent Appoints Marlene Leuenberger as General Manager of New Drug Development Center of Excellence

SOMERSET, N.J., July 12, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Catalent Pharma Solutions, the leading global provider of advanced delivery technologies and development solutions for drugs, biologics and consumer health products, today announced that Ms. Marlene Leuenberger has been appointed as General Manager of the company's Somerset, New Jersey drug development center of excellence.
Ms. Leuenberger has over 25 years' management experience in engineering, quality operations and plant management within the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, and joins Catalent from Impax Laboratories, where she was General Manager and Senior Director of Operations for its Middlesex, New Jersey facility. She has also held senior positions in operations at LTS Lohmann Therapy Systems Corp., Novartis Consumer Health, Wyeth (now Pfizer), and Procter and Gamble. She received her Bachelor's in chemical engineering from Clarkson University, New York.

Catalent recently announced that it had invested in the Somerset facility to create a new drug development center of excellence, focused on preclinical to clinical phase 2b formulation, analytical, and manufacturing solutions for orally delivered small molecules. Last week, the company also announced that it has agreed to acquire Juniper Pharmaceuticals, Inc., including its Nottingham, U.K.-based Juniper Pharma Services division. When combined with Catalent's existing industry-leading drug development and manufacturing capabilities in the U.S. and Europe, the acquisition of Juniper will expand and strengthen Catalent's offerings in formulation development, bioavailability solutions and clinical-scale oral dose manufacturing, and will complement its integrated global clinical and commercial supply network.
Catalent's 265,000 square-foot headquarters and development center in Somerset has a long track record of successfully developing, launching, and manufacturing many oral treatments for leading global innovators. The site houses state-of-the-art analytical labs, pilot and clinical scale equipment including hot melt extrusion and fluid bed processing, and has significant expertise in handling potent and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) compounds for capsules, tablets, minitablets and multi-particulates.
