Chabad of Charleston Opens Center for Jewish Life
Mount Pleasant, South Carolina (PRWEB) September 21, 2016 -- Today, Chabad of Charleston and the Lowcountry, an organization dedicated to helping foster a deeper sense of pride and appreciation for Jewish heritage, announced the grand opening of its newly constructed Center for Jewish Life. The Jewish community center is located at 477 Mathis Ferry Road in Mount Pleasant and spans 16,000 square feet.
The Center for Jewish Life will provide a space for joyful, meaningful and positive Jewish experiences. The building itself centers around a show kitchen that mimics the Jewish home, as Judaism is a practice full of hospitality. Along with the kitchen that will allow members to share meals, the Center boasts a cafe, library, meeting space and ballroom to provide a home away from home for members of the larger community.
Offering programs and events for all ages and segments, the Center will also include a boutique preschool for children aged two through five. “We’re excited for children to begin their educational journey in our new purpose-built, arts-centered classrooms. Our holistic and collaborative inquiry-based curricula continuously evolve and focus on the relationship of the fine arts to nature, science, math, music, and communal interaction”, says Rabbi Yossi Refson.
The grand opening is scheduled for September 25, 2016 at 4:00PM EST at 477 Mathis Ferry Road in Mount Pleasant. The event will consist of a dinner, ribbon cutting, affixing of the Mezuzah, music and children’s entertainment. Expected to join the festivities of the grand opening include Mayor of Mount Pleasant, Linda Page, South Carolina Senator, Tim Scott and South Carolina Congressman Mark Sanford.
