Author Raphael A. Batista raises funds for brother with special needs
HOUSTON, July 24, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Author Raphael A. Batista sets out to raise mental health awareness and to support his older brother's education through his debut book, "Kid Dino: The Beginning."
Batista's story emerged during a conversation at the dinner table. When asked, "If you could have any superpower, what would it be?" His answer sparked a journey that combined his passion for dinosaurs and the desire to create positive change in the world.
In the book, readers are introduced to the protagonist, Ralphie, known as "Kid Dino." Ralphie possesses an extensive knowledge of dinosaurs but has never had the opportunity to see them firsthand. However, a fortuitous encounter with electromagnetic radiation transforms him into a hero with superhuman strength, just in time to face the formidable "Abominus Rex", a menacing creature that symbolizes the negative aspects of mental health. Ralphie then embarks on a journey of bravery by using his knowledge and imagination.
"Learning about our planet's past can help us save its future," Batista said. "In addition, I wanted to weave a narrative that encourages open conversations about mental well-being. Regardless of the monsters in our life, be it depression, bullying, or other challenges, we all have the strength to overcome them as it's okay to ask for help when fighting them."
By sharing his book, Batista provides a space for children and adults to explore their emotions, fostering understanding and empathy.
Not only is Batista driven by the goals of educating children about the planet's past and spreading mental health awareness, but determined to support his beloved brother, who is still in foster care. He aims to support his older brother's education by raising funds for his enrollment in a special needs school.
