Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce to Host 21st Annual Legislative Breakfast
Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) May 18, 2015 -- Hosted by the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce on May 21, 2015, the 20th Annual Legislative Breakfast welcomes members and delegates to discuss the rest of the 2015 legislative session. The event will be at 1111 N. McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater, Fl. 33759 at Ruth Eckerd Hall, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on May 21, 2015. Attendance at this annual event is $25 for chamber members and $30 for non-members.
Director of Government Relations for BayCare Health Systems, Keri Eisenbeis, will moderate the breakfast, giving legislators the time and ability to briefly speak on their individual accomplishments. Eisenbeis will then direct specific questions towards members of the delegation followed by an open-floor Q&A session. This rare opportunity to interact between legislative delegates and the Chamber is the main impetus behind the annual breakfast.
Due to House Speaker, Steve Crisafulli, ending regular session for the House of Representatives three days early, dozens of major legislative bills were left for dead and consequently tensions escalated between the House and Senate over the unfinished healthcare debate. Leaving the session incomplete, the calling of a special session was enforced for both chambers.
With a $4 billion divide in the early budget plans between the two chambers, the regular 60-day session ended on May 1 with only the Senate going through with the full term. This became the first time in Florida’s history that one chamber shut down and went home on a different day than the other during a regular session.
A special session has been scheduled from June 1 to June 20 between the two chambers to finish discussing lingering budget issues.
