The hotel's name, Hotel Alice, takes its inspiration from Alice G. Hoffman, a famous local of the Atlantic Beach area. Alice is most well known as being Eleanor Roosevelt's Aunt as well as a world traveler and businesswoman. After Alice's passing, she left 2,000 acres of waterfront property along the Atlantic beach to her Roosevelt family. The Roosevelt family used this land to form the Pine Knolls Shore community.
