Midwest's largest cyber event set to expand at Indiana Convention Center, July 14-15 with presentation by John Felker of the federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and other cybersecurity experts, cyber range, SOCathon, escape room and new venture capital competition for start-up tech firms. Organizers following guidance from WHO and CDC to ensure participant safety from any coronavirus issues.
INDIANAPOLIS, March 30, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Plans for Cybertech Midwest, the region's largest cyber event, are "moving full speed ahead" with new experts being added, initial plans for an onsite cyber range, an escape room activity to promote cybersecurity awareness at all levels, a new pitch competition for venture capital, and other new elements for the July event.
"In addition to Cybertech's all-star lineup of cybersecurity experts and industry practitioners, we're now looking forward to a pitch competition held in partnership with StartUp World Cup for the first time," said Michael Snyder of MEK, a representative for Cybertech Midwest. "This competition is open to all technology firms, and not just those associated with the cybersecurity space – the Cybertech Midwest winner will qualify to go on to the Grand Finale 2020 round and compete for a $1 million grand prize."
The July 2020 assembly of experts, including John Felker of the federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), will also feature a real-time SOCathon, where attendees can put their skills to the test by battling real-world cyberattacks in a virtual Security Operations Center (SOC). This immersive training experience will allow practitioners to use market-leading security tools while improving skills and assessing capabilities. A robust cyber range is also expected to be part of the Indianapolis Cybertech conference.
Gerry Dick, host of Inside Indiana Business, will moderate an opening panel of experts. While attracting experts and participants from the Midwest and abroad, Cybertech Midwest is being conducted in collaboration with the state of Indiana, including the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and the Indiana Office of Technology.
Professionals and participants – including technology startups – are encouraged to save the dates of July 14-15. Cybertech Midwest will provide opportunities to gain actionable and up-to-date information about threats, solutions, technologies, strategies, and challenges facing the global cyber area across a wide range of sectors including critical infrastructure, insurance, healthcare, retail, government, utilities and more.
The Cybertech Midwest event will feature numerous cybersecurity experts and industry practitioners, including CISOs, CIOs, corporate leaders and key government administrators. Confirmed presenters include John Felker, assistant director of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency; Bill Russell; CISO of Cummins; Stephanie Dedmon, CIO of the State of Tennessee; Hemant Jain, Interim CISO of the State of Indiana; Indiana Clark Giles, CTO, City of Indianapolis; and leading experts from NASA, Blue Cross Blue Shield, the Indianapolis International Airport, Wabash National Corporation, university-based experts, commercial defense leaders and more.
Cybertech and Indiana officials expect participants from more than 20 states, with more than 60 speakers and experts.
"Concerning cyber, this event lives it and breathes it," said Snyder. "This event helps set the stage for global cyber innovations and solutions, and all look forward to the most successful event yet."
The 2020 event will take place at the Indiana Convention Center on July 14-15 in Indianapolis.
