DatingScout Announces New Study Revealing Online Dating Motives Based On Profile Picture
First Global Study To Analyze 22M Online Dating Profile Pictures To Predict Courting Versus Marrying Intention and How To Spot A Fake Profile
NEW YORK, Dec. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- DatingScout, a service that compares online dating sites and apps, announced a new study which reveals how the self-portrayal of singles in photos correlates with their dating desires and how to tell when a profile is fake.
This year, DatingScout conducted the first study of its kind using artificial intelligence to analyze over 22M profile pictures and 6,000 attributes across 13 countries and thousands of dating sites. Their research results show whether singles are more interested in casual dating versus a serious, long term relationship.
In addition, data reveals which countries rank in the top 5 for eagerness to raise a family, most socially outgoing, most eager to tie the knot and who shows off the most luxury in their photos.
76.3% of all smiling profile pictures are of women, while only 23.7% are from men. It is estimated that males are more likely to create a fake profile than women.
"We all know, if you don't make the best first impression, your impression will be lost. But, what is the best way to steal the digital spotlight while also not getting caught up in engaging with fake profiles? That's what our research reveals to online daters," says Chris Pleines, Co-founder of DatingScout.
According to Celia Schweyer, Chief Dating Officer at DatingScout, "The best ways to spot a fake profile is by nonsensical responses that are out of the context of conversation, the use of a celebrity or model as a profile picture and lastly their profile is bare with very little information or pictures."
The gender, age and location of an online dater plays a vital role in how they portray themselves in their profile. The key to successful online dating is to represent oneself authentically and powerfully while also being aware of the warning signs of phony profiles.
