Diamond Champ Performance Facility, powered by TopVelocity, is setting a new standard for baseball and softball player development.
SAN MARCOS, Calif., Feb. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Diamond Champ Performance Facility, powered by TopVelocity, is setting a new standard for baseball and softball player development. With a focus on science-based, data-driven training, the facility combines mobility, performance, and biomechanics to help athletes maximize their potential while prioritizing health and injury prevention.
To showcase its cutting-edge training methods, Diamond Champ is hosting an Open House this Saturday from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at its state-of-the-art, 10,000-square-foot facility in San Marcos. Athletes, parents, and coaches are invited to tour the facility, meet the professional coaching staff, and learn how the TopVelocity training system can elevate their game.
With over 30 years of experience in corrective exercises and performance training, the Diamond Champ team has a proven track record of delivering real results. The facility features:
- Professional-grade pitching mounds
- Five batting lanes with live at-bat capabilities
- 4,700 square feet of open space for fielding drills
- Power racks, bumper plates, Keiser equipment, kettlebells, and TRX suspension training
- Dedicated sitting area for athletes to complete homework between training sessions
Athletes of all positions can benefit from this elite training system to improve performance on the field while reducing injury risk.
After working with professional and amateur athletes for over 30 years, Diamond Champ Founder and Head Trainer Ben Cortez saw a troubling trend—too many baseball players struggling with recurring injuries. Determined to change that, he opened Diamond Champ in 2022 to apply his multi-sport expertise to baseball, emphasizing injury prevention and high-performance training.
"I've spent my career helping athletes across different sports maximize their performance while staying healthy. When I looked at baseball, I saw a gap—players were being pushed to perform, but often at the cost of their long-term health. That's why I built Diamond Champ, using science-based methods that develop power, speed, and skill while prioritizing longevity. Our goal is simple: train smarter, play longer, and reach your full potential," said Ben Cortez, Founder of Diamond Champ Performance Facility.

About Ben Cortez
Ben Cortez began his career in the sports and fitness industry as a personal trainer in 1994, driven by a lifelong passion for athletics. He initially worked with professional athletes in Texas before moving to Maui in 1999, where he became a sought-after sports fitness specialist. In 2003, Ben opened the first top-tier training facility on Maui's North Shore, catering to both international and local athletes. He firmly believes that proper strength training reduces injury risk and fosters the confidence needed for superior competitive performance.
In 2009, Ben relocated to Southern California to be closer to family. While managing professional athletes and securing sponsorships, he realized he missed hands-on training. In 2012, when his two sons expressed interest in Little League Baseball, Ben discovered a new passion. He utilized his extensive experience to coach their teams and became acutely aware of the prevalent arm injuries in the sport. This led him to conduct extensive research into arm care techniques and training methods aimed at injury prevention.
In late 2019, Ben discovered the TopVelocity program and connected with its founder, Brent Pourciau. Recognizing the program's sound, scientific approach and proven results, Ben decided to establish a training facility in San Diego. His goal is to teach these principles and assist all throwing athletes in achieving their full potential while minimizing injury risks.
