Dream Bed and PATH Partner to Help Those in Need
Los Angeles (PRWEB) October 29, 2015 -- In response to the increasing need to assist the homeless population in Los Angeles, The Dream Bed will donate 100 mattresses to PATH’s (People Assisting the Homeless) interim and permanent housing programs. The Dream Bed will also spend the day volunteering at PATH Gramercy, a division of PATH which provides housing, child-care, and services to mothers and their children who are experiencing homelessness.
Scheduled for October 29, this is the second event of its kind hosted by the brand, and is a part of a nationwide “Buy a Dream. Give a Dream.” donation tour. The Dream Bed, a rolled bed-in-a-box from Mattress Firm Holding Corp, donates a twin bed to those in need for every Dream Bed purchased online. Our Dream Bed team collaborates with partners like PATH to provide mattresses and services to people in need.
“The Dream Bed launched on the belief that everyone deserves a good night’s sleep,” said Ken Murphy, president of Mattress Firm. “When we heard Mayor Garcetti declaring homelessness a state of emergency in Los Angeles, we knew we wanted to be part of the solution. This issue is too big for the city to address on its own. That’s why we’re also launching the #dreamitforwardLA campaign to give Angelenos a way to get involved.”
For every post using #DreamItForwardLA on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, Dream Bed will also donate $1 to PATH. “We encourage Los Angeles residents to help advance the dream of safety and stability for the homeless by posting a photo or the name of a person who helped them achieve their dream,” said Murphy.
“We’re grateful to brands like Dream Bed for assisting those struggling with housing,” said Katie Hill, COO of PATH. “Many of those we serve move from the streets into empty apartments with no bedding. Beds are typically the most difficult need to fill, and this donation from The Dream Bed will help our residents get a good night’s sleep, maybe the first they've truly had in years."
PATH is committed to helping 10,000 people Make It Home by 2020. The donated mattresses will be used in PATH’s Gramercy interim housing and other Southern California locations. The organization has been working to end homelessness for over 30 years and provides services throughout California.
