Pennsylvania's Yough River Accessible to Residents of the East Coast
Wilderness Voyageurs runs whitewater rafting trips on three sections of the Youghiogheny River offering world-class high adventure action on Class 3, 4 & 5 rapids. Class 5 is the highest-level run by commercial operators in the USA. Located close to Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Cleveland and Columbus they provide the most accessible Class 4+ rafting to major cities in the East.
Rafting Adventure Trips include Class 2, 3, and 4 white water rapids that offer fun and excitement for novice rafters and up. Appropriate for enthusiastic first timers, older kids (age 12 and up) and experienced adventurers, these trips are the heart of white-water rafting fun for thousands of families and individuals every year! Wilderness Voyageurs offers three different options for Ohiopyle rafting the Lower Yough section of the famous Youghiogheny River, depending on prior paddling experience. Their standard Lower Yough rafting trip is guide – escorted. Several guides will be in rafts and kayaks, helping guests captain their raft down the river. For those who have a lot of prior experience paddling, they offer rentals so guests can navigate the river on their own.
River guides and local kayakers refer to the Upper Yough as the "Dream Stream." This section of the renowned Youghiogheny River is Maryland's only Class IV-V whitewater rafting, and this sweet run is only available three times a week from April through October. Releases are generally on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Upper Yough Trips are limited to 18 people so it's important to book early.
Family adventures include rafting on the Cheat River and Pedal and Paddle multi-sports trips on the Middle Yough. Great for making memories with your family.
