EPIC Systems, Inc. Selected as Engineering Firm for Manufacturing Revitalization Project
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) August 22, 2013 -- EPIC Systems, Inc. has been selected to develop the process and packaging lines for International Food Products' new $20 million facility in St. Louis, MO. EPIC will design, build and integrate the process and packaging lines. The greenfield facility is being installed at the site of the former Ford Motor Co. plant in Hazelwood, MO.
“We are proud to be a part of a project that expands manufacturing in the St. Louis area,” says John Schott,” President of EPIC Systems, Inc. ”This facility is vital to the local economy, and a perfect fit for EPIC’s unique blend of modular process and packaging line experience.“
Complete manufacturing process will be designed and installed by EPIC. Project scope includes product sanitary blending skids, batch mixing systems, and liquid and powder packaging lines. Four of the six semi-automated packaging lines will be new, one relocated, and the other retrofitted. Layout, utilities and mechanical room will also be completed by EPIC. The facility is scheduled to be fully operational by early Spring 2014.
“International Food Products has been a pleasure to work with since day one. EPIC Systems is honored to be involved with taking their operation to the “next level.” The automated batching/blending systems will increase line capacities on both their liquid and dry packaging lines,” says John Stork, EPIC’s Project Manager. “Having all of the construction and testing of the liquids operations completed off-site will ensure the process is ready when the civil site is finished. Modular construction will allow us to see product out of the new facility before the old plant is shut down, creating a smooth transition. A detailed project schedule, combined with the modular fabrication approach, will provide cost savings and greatly reduce risk on this turnkey process and packaging plant.”
The new 227,500 square foot industrial plant combines a distribution center with manufacturing operations for International Food Products. The company is family owned and employs 150 employees in the St. Louis region. International will be leasing the facility from Panattoni Development Company. The project is a joint venture between Prudential and Panattoni. The financing is provided by J.P. Morgan. International Food Products is the first business to move into Aviator Business Park. The development will be a mixed-use business park.
