TOWN OF COVENTRY, Conn. (PRWEB) May 02, 2014 -- E-recording in the Town of Coventry, Conn., is now available to recording customers through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service provider, enabling faster, more efficient recording of land documents.
“As a town clerk representative of the State of Connecticut Real Property Electronic Recording Committee, charged with establishing regulations to implement the provisions of Public Act 08-56, which adopted electronic recording, I quickly came to appreciate the benefit of this technology to all parties involved in real estate transactions,” said Susan Cyr, Town of Coventry clerk. “It allows us to offer improved customer service.”
By e-recording through Simplifile, customers such as title companies, banks, and attorneys, can avoid mailing, postage, and courier fees with the ability to submit documents via the Internet.
“Instead of waiting for documents to be returned by mail, the clerk’s office can receive, review, stamp, record and return the documents minutes after the customer clicks ‘submit’ online,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “We’re excited to see another Connecticut town make this service available to their customers as it streamlines and simplifies the overall recording process.”
According to Cyr, the town currently accepts all documents for e-recording with the exception of transfers of property, which require a Connecticut Conveyance Tax Form; the state will have to revise their procedures for collecting conveyance taxes before this document types becomes available for e-recording.
With the addition of e-recording in the Town of Coventry, there are now 14 e-recording jurisdictions in Connecticut.
