KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 7, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ESS is excited to announce the launch of its annual art contest for K-12 public and charter school students in the continental United States for the seventh consecutive year. From now until February 23rd at 8:00 pm Eastern Time, students are invited to submit a traditional drawing, painting, or digital piece representing this year's topic, "Imagine going to school in a zoo—what would your day be like?" The winning students from the four grade groups will receive a $500 gift card, plus $500 for their school.
"Art empowers students to express themselves, explore their world, and connect with others in meaningful ways. The 7th Annual 2025 ESS Art Contest reaffirms our commitment to fostering creativity and the arts in education," shares ESS CEO Buddy Helton. "Every piece submitted to the ESS Art Contest reminds us that the next generation of artists is full of potential. We're excited to see how students bring the zoo theme to life with their unique perspectives and incredible talent."
To enter the contest, parents or teachers, with parental consent, can submit student artwork to ArtContest.ESS.com. Artwork will be categorized into four grade groups (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12). A panel of ESS judges will score each submission on a scale of 1-43 based on the following criteria:
- Artistic skills
- Creativity and originality
- Relation to contest theme
- A unique and novel approach to the artwork and title
- Technical skill by grade level
- Adherence to the contest rules and requirements
During the week of March 31st – April 6th, the top five finalists from each grade group will be featured on the ESS Facebook and Instagram pages, where the public will vote on their favorites. A percentage of the total score from the number of likes, comments, and shares from ESS' social media (Facebook and Instagram) combined with the highest total score from the ESS judges will determine the winner from each Grade Group. The 2025 ESS Art Contest winners will be announced on ESS' social media pages on April 9th.
