Unfortunately, school supplies are simply out of financial reach for many families in the community. With more than 65% of students in Broward County Public Schools enrolled in free and reduced lunch programs, many families must choose shelter, food, and clothing over school supplies. Broward Education Foundation explains that as a result, it is the teachers who take on the financial burden, spending an average of $700 annually to keep their classrooms stocked with supplies.
By hosting their annual back to school drive, the non-profit Broward Education Foundation, is collecting school supplies to ultimately fill shelves of its School Supply Center where teachers from Title I Broward County schools shop for free twice a year. Upon request, companies and organizations from all over Broward County could request a collection box to fill supplies with from July 8th through August 12th.
With a passion for education and hardworking, Exults went above and beyond by donating enough school supplies for two classrooms of children. In just a month, the collection box provided by the foundation was overflowing with dozens of backpacks, notebooks, erasers, markers, and rulers. Overall, the agency hopes its contribution goes a long way for teachers and students in the local community.
