NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Feb. 16, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- During the first week of February, five DF Multifamily, a division of Drucker + Falk (DF), Hampton Roads based apartment communities took part in the annual Polar Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics of Virginia. The participants for each apartment community included DF employees and a few corporate employees, who in addition to jumping into the property pools also worked to fundraise the week of the plunge.
The Choices at Holland Windsor, Compass at City Center, Kingstowne Apartments, Ellipse Urban Apartments, and Venture iN Tech Center communities collectively raised over $3,500 and counting and promoted their efforts along with the moment of their plunges on social media. Residents watched from a distance and some participants dressed up to generate additional enthusiasm for the event. Venture iN Tech Center was featured by 13News Now to share how they accepted the challenge to 'plunge it your way' and to help promote their fundraising goals.
This annual event is a major fundraiser for the Special Olympics of Virginia with the organization pivoting amidst COVID-19 concerns to encourage participants to 'plunge it your way' in 2021. This year's event raised over $840,000 and involved over 1,300 participants, with proceeds from the event going to help support over 23,000 athletes.
"Drucker + Falk places a large emphasis on our apartment communities and team members giving back to the causes of their choice on an ongoing basis. Watching these communities come together to support this special cause and have fun while doing it was truly inspiring," shared Deidre Brown, Director of Multifamily Management for Drucker + Falk.
