STANDISH, Maine, Oct.14, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Focus EduSolutions, in partnership with Saint Joseph's College of Maine, is excited to announce the launch of its first series of professional micro-credentials in Catechism, Early Childhood Education, and Teaching Children with Disabilities. This will provide greater educational opportunities for anyone looking to deepen their faith and knowledge of the Catechetical mission of the Church or looking to further their career in the Catholic education system. These credentials are six to eight-week-long self-paced programs. "The development of this first set of professional micro-credentials reflects the next step in Saint Joseph's College's continuing evolution as a thought and practice leader in higher education serving the needs of learners in a values-based context. We look forward to expanding our offerings and presence in this exciting new learning space."
These professional Micro-Credentials include:
· Becoming an Effective Catechist: Catechetical Education Certificate: This credential presents the foundations of Catholic theology and educational pedagogy to facilitate catechesis at all levels. Unique to this program is that the modules present a Catholic worldview by using Catholic Social Teaching as the springboard for the explanation/application of pedagogical practices from planning, and classroom management to common 'teacher hacks'. The 2020 Directory for Catechesis, Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the Acts of the Apostles are the main references during the credential.
· Early Childhood Education: Teaching from a Catholic Framework: This program is designed to prepare aspiring and current early childhood professionals with mastery knowledge in the growth and development of the young child within a Catholic education framework. Topics include foundations in early childhood development, moral education for developing minds, cognitive and physical development of the young child, language acquisition, curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management, health and safety guidelines, and family/community relationship building.
· The Inclusive Classroom: A Certificate in Teaching Children with Disabilities for Catholic Educators: This credential will equip teachers with the knowledge to understand how neurodivergent brains learn and the skills needed to teach a wider scope of learners. Knowledge will be gained in the areas of common learning disabilities, strategies for meeting the needs of an academically diverse classroom, and church teachings and documents that support the reasons why all students should be included in Catholic schools.
· Leading for the Catholic Mission: Administrator Pathway for Implementing Special Education Programming: As administrators and teachers, we know that there are children in every school with learning disabilities, but we also know that not every school is equipped to meet the needs of all learners. This certificate addresses the skills and knowledge that administrators must have to create a strong special education framework in the Catholic school environment while allowing themselves to become encouraging and supporting administer of the work of teachers for the success of exceptional learner programs.
