HENDERSON, Tenn., April 21, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Freed-Hardeman University will initiate a program in Fall 2021 geared toward helping first-year students determine their "path to professional purpose." During the two years of the program, dubbed "FHU Passage," students in all academic programs will identify professional goals, engage in activities to promote real-world exposure to career fields, and discover traits and skills that promote their personal success.
Director of Emerging and Innovative Programs Jared Gott said new students typically enter college with many questions and he believes this program will help answer at least three: What can I do? How do I grow? and Where can I go?
Students will work with an assigned faculty or staff member to complete activities that help promote individual growth while establishing and growing a network of professional contacts. At the end of the program, students will have developed a portfolio of professional experiences and positioned themselves to successfully compete for internships, graduate programs, and employment opportunities.
Not only will students connect with FHU faculty and staff, but they will also be paired with FHU alumni and professional contacts. These external career influencers are invited to share their knowledge, professional wisdom, and personal experiences with current students. Alumni interested in working with FHU Passage are encouraged to complete the volunteer form online at fhu.edu/passage.
To learn more about FHU Passage, prospective students, parents, and alumni may visit fhu.edu/passage. They may also contact Gott, at [email protected], or Jim Brown, passage coordinator, at [email protected]
