New middle school to help with the growth of Duval County and support the surrounding community.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 13, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Gilbane is pleased to partner with the architecture and engineering firm Zyscovich, LLC, and Duval County Public Schools on its new sixth - eighth-grade facility. The new Chaffee Trail Middle School, located adjacent to the existing Chaffee Trail Elementary School, is anticipated to open in time for the 2024 school year.
A special groundbreaking ceremony took place on April 12 at Chaffee Trail Elementary School located at 11400 Sam Caruso Way, Jacksonville, FL 32221.

New construction of the $50 million Chaffee Trail Middle School project for Duval County Public Schools is part of a $1.7 billion capital improvement program. The new facility is funded by a recent half-cent sales tax that voters approved in 2020. It will significantly help the school district with its growth, maintenance, and renovations of current facilities and the construction of new schools to help support the surrounding communities in Duval County.
The project scope includes a new 124,259-square-foot middle school on a 32.3-acre parcel of land directly adjacent to Chaffee Trail Elementary School. The site development package includes new athletic fields, football/soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, basketball courts, and a track. The new school will be constructed with sustainability as a priority following Green Globes' high-performance rating system.
