FORT DODGE, Iowa, Nov. 3, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance has released the 9th new video in their series that celebrates the community's diversity, opportunity, and business development. The videos feature interviews with local businesses, showcasing what makes the Fort Dodge area unique and prosperous. In addition to highlighting the community's strengths, the videos also discuss the many opportunities available for businesses looking to expand or relocate along with employment options. The Growth Alliance is committed to promoting the region as a great place to do business, and these videos are an excellent way to show off all that this community has to offer.
The latest video release which is the 9th in the series is with Justin Mikos of Mikos & Matt Furniture. Mikos & Matt Furniture has been in the community since 1953 and Justin is the 3rd generation in the family to be part of this popular furniture store. Justin tells viewers that he has always wanted to own his own business and this is an excellent opportunity for him to fulfill his dream while carrying on the family tradition.
Belonging to the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance has provided them the ability to work with other businesses in the community while learning more about them. Justin joined Leadership Fort Dodge which is sponsored by the GFDGA and gained a lot during his nine months in the program. Touring places like the Fort Dodge Regional Airport and interacting with the other members of the class really helped to integrate Justin even more into the community.
A major turning point for the business was in 2017 when a very damaging storm hit the business. It was a difficult time for the Mikos & Matt owners as the damage was extensive and took months to bring the store back to where it is today. Afterward, the GFDGA hosted a Ribbon Cutting and today visitors to the store will find this ribbon proudly displayed at the front desk with the members of the GFDGA signatures on it.
"So we interviewed Justin Mikos with Mikos & Matt Furniture. We really enjoyed getting to know Justin a little bit more, sharing about his business, why he moved back, and the history of his business. It was very interesting how it started with the grandparents and the correct way to say the Mikos's name which I never knew, "explains Jill Nelson, Community Development Director at the GFDGA.
Lydia Schuur, Communication Specialist with the GFDGA adds, "They really have a very solid reputation in the community. As a resident of the community who shops, knowing these details about this business gives me a closeness that I am more likely to go shop there."
The GFDGA encourages everyone to watch the video, along with the others in the series to learn more about the businesses, community, and opportunities that are in the region. The videos can also be freely shared on social media and websites as a resource for job recruitment and business development in the region. The other videos will continue to be released every three weeks through the rest of the year and you can hear more about them on the Spin It Podcast sponsored by Spin Markket + Digital which is released in conjunction with the videos.
