Groundbreaking Family Enterprise Expert Ann Dugan Joins Waldron Private Wealth
As senior family enterprise specialist, Dugan will bring invaluable experience and help fulfill one of Waldron's cornerstone goals: helping high net worth individuals and their families manage the unique challenges associated with multigenerational wealth.
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 13, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Waldron Private Wealth recently announced a partnership with national expert Ann Dugan to help steer the independent wealth management firm's Family Enterprise and Business Advisory Services department.
In her role as Waldron's senior family enterprise specialist, Dugan will bring invaluable experience and help fulfill one of Waldron's cornerstone goals: helping high net worth individuals and their families manage the unique challenges associated with multigenerational wealth.
"After meeting with Waldron's leadership team, we all had great synergy, in terms of skillset and interests, so that led to this new relationship," said Dugan, who in 1989 launched the groundbreaking Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence (IEE) within the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Graduate School of Business, where she also served as assistant dean.
In guiding the IEE, Dugan was an early innovator in understanding the power of knowledge and research to build family enterprises, as the institute provided educational and experiential learning opportunities to regional family businesses and entrepreneurs. She was also recognized as the 2009 Ernst & Young Regional Entrepreneur of the Year.
After stepping away from IEE late in 2014, Dugan served as a family advisor with Headwaters SC, an executive in residence with Family Business Network and senior managing director of the Family Office Exchange.
"Ann understands better than anyone the long-term strategies and nuances that help families succeed now and from generation to generation," said John Waldron, CEO and founder of Waldron Private Wealth. "We're truly honored to have her partner with our own family as we continue to expand and enhance our services."
Dugan, herself a fourth-generation member of a business-owning family, comes to Waldron at a time when families are facing new challenges presented by the pandemic.
"Many have the opportunity to really rethink what family means to them and refocus where they are spending their time and resources, be it intellectually, socially or philanthropically," Dugan said. "It's about thinking long-term and understanding, 'What are our goals as a family? How do we think beyond daily urgency?' Active learning, honesty and communication is the key."
Dugan has been a lifelong learner, and in addition to her BS in economics and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, she holds a certificate in leadership from the Center for Creative Leadership and has been an active member of the Ernst & Young alumni network. She is on the board of directors of the National Philanthropic Trust, Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation and the Trade Institute of Pittsburgh.
