Highway West Vacations Debuts Two Distinct Boutique Hotels in Solvang with the Grand Opening of The Winston and Vinland Hotel & Lounge
Design-forward hotels bring new energy to the charming Danish village in Santa Barbara County's beloved wine region with striking personalities and modern amenities
SOLVANG, Calif., Aug. 26, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Highway West Vacations, a collection of boutique hotels, luxury RV resorts and campgrounds in the Western U.S., announces the debut two new stylish hotels in the Danish village of Solvang, Calif., in the heart of Santa Ynez Valley wine country. The Winston officially opened its doors today, while Vinland Hotel & Lounge began slowly and safely welcoming visitors in late-May.
"Solvang is entering an exciting new era with lots of farm-fresh restaurants and retail shops popping up, and these new hotels—and especially V Lounge—are at the forefront of what's proving to be a new modern direction for this beloved little town," said Matt Bernard, regional general manager of The Winston and Vinland Hotel & Lounge. "These striking new hotels and vibrant lounges are truly unlike anything else in the valley, further expanding the area's hospitality offerings and providing a perfect launching pad to enjoy all the culture, wine, cuisine and activities this region has to offer."
The Winston is an upscale, 14-room hotel in Solvang's historic Old Mill Clock Tower. The repurposed building adds old-world charm to the new hotel, while vibrant and daring décor gives a contemporary feel. The rooms and public spaces are outfitted with pieces personally curated from around the world, giving it an eclectic, bohemian feel. Each of the 14 rooms and suites is one-of-a-kind and elegantly appointed, uniquely designed with oversized headboards and bold colors, interesting textures, and contrasting patterns. To evoke a warm, residential feeling where visitors are treated as guests of someone's home, several standout amenities are available, including a bathroom mini bar featuring upscale skincare, beauty and bath products; a private, guest-only honor bar; and complimentary breakfast delivered to the door. This—paired with the boutique nature of the property—makes the hotel well-suited for buyouts.
Vinland Hotel & Lounge is just minutes away from The Winston, situated in the heart of Solvang's Mission Drive. The 82-room hotel opened its doors in late May with a clean, modern design, elevating the traditional Solvang hotel experience. Hotel amenities include a heated pool and hot tub, a cold brew coffee bar, and partnerships with local wineries, providing guests who book the hotel's top suites with exclusive perks and experiences at nearby vineyards.
Additionally, the hotel will soon debut an on-site eatery, V Lounge, featuring fresh Californian fare with an unmistakable Danish flair in addition to local wines, craft beer and innovative cocktails. Open for lunch, dinner and late-night bites and libations until 2 a.m., V Lounge will serve a menu focused on sharables, sandwiches and small plates with signature menu being the Danish Chicken Sausage Sliders, Viking Meatballs and the Wild Mushroom Ragu.
"We are excited to welcome eager travelers looking for a quick summer getaway considering all the pent-up demand over the past few months," added Bernard. "As the hotels are situated just a few hours by car from both the Bay Area and greater Los Angeles, we're already seeing impressive summer and fall bookings and have special protocol and policies in place to safely accommodate those itching to hit the road for that quintessential California road trip."
In line with the latest travel standards, both hotels are thoughtfully designed and managed to deliver responsible guest experiences, with seamless arrivals and convenient, hassle-free service options. Vinland Hotel & Lounge offers contactless curbside check-in, while The Winston prides itself in offering an invisible guest service model. This hands-off approach to hospitality enhances the safety and security of guests while still providing all the luxuries and personalized touches guests seek from an upscale hotel experience.
The opening of The Winston and Vinland Hotel & Lounge mark an exciting expansion for Highway West Vacations' footprint in Santa Barbara County wine country. The hospitality brand's portfolio also includes two properties in neighboring Buellton, Calif. Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground features RV sites, several glamping options and themed cabins, cottages and lodges (think vintage trailers, wine cottages, and luxury safari tents designed with modern appliances and rustic charm), alongside resort-style amenities that allow guests to immerse themselves in nature without sacrificing comfort. Meanwhile, nearby the 110-room Sideways Inn and Lounge has been a favorite resort destination for oenophiles for decades.
